Sheboygan man arrested for OWI 5th offense in Fond du Lac County

The Wisconsin State Patrol says they arrested a Sheboygan County man in Fond du Lac County for a 5th offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence early Sunday morning.

44-year-old Travis Balz of Plymouth was stopped by the trooper near County Highway F and Vista Drive in Fond du Lac County for equipment violations.

After contact with Balz, the trooper observed signs of impairment, as well as open intoxicants inside the vehicle. An investigation was conducted, and the driver was subsequently arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, fifth offense.

During a search of the driver, the trooper located methamphetamine.

Balz was booked into Fond du Lac County Jail with charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, fifth offense, possession of methamphetamine, and a probation hold.
In addition, the driver was cited for possession of open intoxicants.
