Shooting Reported In Appleton City Park

A shooting at a city park in Appleton yesterday, July 30, 2023, leaves one person injured and the shooter in police custody.

At around 4:30 p.m., Appleton police officers responded to reports of a disturbance at Erb Park, located at 1800 N. Morrison Street. Upon arrival, they located an injured person and several people fleeing from the park. The injured person was treated and taken to a hospital. Officers secured a perimeter and began interviewing people to identify those involved.

One person was taken into custody and police say they believe that the victim was targeted and that the community is not in danger.

A shelter in place was issued for the neighborhood while police investigated the scene, but that was since lifted.
