Shop With A Cop returns this week to spread smiles to selected kids and law enforcement alike

Last minute donations are coming in for the annual shop with a cop event which will be taking place this Thursday, December 4, 2025.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office posted on their social media, several organizations and businesses that donated to the cause this week and last week.

Law enforcement from multiple jurisdictions get together for the annual event where dozens of kids get the opportunity to go on a mini shopping spree with donated funds.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt explains kids are picked for the event by schools that see certain kids that may be going through some struggles and need an extra dose of joy in their life.

Though its called shop with a cop, kids can get paired up with anyone in the criminal justice system such as the District Attorneys Office, Probation and Parole, The DNR or Department of Corrections. Law enforcement from all jurisdictions in Fond du Lac County also are on hand to participate.

Waldschmidt said while most kids may get toys, that isn’t always what they go for, saying sometimes if they need shampoo, new towels or bedding they’ll pick out those essential items. It’s not always about games and toys.
