Snow totals stay on low end but cause major issues on local roads
A quick hit of snow Tuesday, February 25, 2026, just before most people’s afternoon commute, caused some issues throughout Fond du Lac county. At the snowfall’s peak, at least eight weather related crashes were called into the Fond du Lac County Communications Center between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m.
Many of those were reported on I-41 with the area of County Highway B seeing several cars going into the ditch near the same area.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the highway was down to one lane in the area, for just over an hour while crews worked the scene of those incidents.
The snow was caused by a cold front moving through the area, with only about a half inch accumulation.
The snow stopped soon after it started but the issues on the roadways continued into Wednesday morning.
Multiple run offs continue to be reported in the county. Of note, Highway 26 north of Rosendale was reported as ice covered by a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy and around 4:45 Wednesday morning, a driver was injured when their vehicle hit black ice, leaving the road and striking a tree. The 25-year-old man reported no major injuries. Rosendale First Responders and Ripon Ambulance responded to that crash.
Also Wednesday morning, a rollover crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-41 north of Oshkosh and a two vehicle crash with injuries happened just after 6:30 a.m. on Highway 23, east of Rosendale. North Fond du Lac Ambulance and Eldorado Fire Department responded to that crash.
