The Brewers used the long ball to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 in 14 innings on Sunday.  Mark Reynolds homered.  Ryan Braun went deep in the top of the 9th to tie itup at 2-2 and Khris Davis hit his first homer of the season in the 14th for the game winner.  Zach Duke picked up the win and Francisco Rodriguez the save.  The round trippers weren’t the only fireworks.   In the 4th inning after Carlos Gomez tripled off the centerfield wall, pitcher Gerrit Cole wasn’t happy with the was he watched the ball at the plate and they exchanged words.  That led to a bench clearing brawl.  Gomez and Pirate reserve Travis Snider were ejected along with Brewers bench coach Jerry Narron.  Brewers catcher Martin Maldonado threw a punch and wasn’t ejected but expects to be suspended.  The win by the Brewers extends their lead in the N.L. Central to 3 games over St. Louis.  Milwaukee opens a series with San Diego tonight.  You’ll hear it on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ. Wily Peralta takes on Andrew Cashner.  Coverage begins at 6:35pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

The Brewers also placed outfielder Logan Schafer on the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring injury.
