SSM Health Samaritan Clinic Affordable Care Act navigator receives BEE Award

Megan Siedschlag, an SSM Health Samaritan Clinic Affordable Care Act navigator, has been named the newest recipient of the BEE (Be Exceptional Everyday) Award.

Siedschlag was recognized by two colleagues.

“Megan received a phone call from a patient stating that her husband’s Medicare insurance was going to end due to not renewing his Medicaid. Megan contacted Moraine Lakes Consortium to discuss with the patient how this could be resolved so the insurance would not end that day. She also contacted the insurance agent that the patient was working with for his Medicare. After talking with the insurance agent and Medicaid, the patient had to provide a bank statement that same day. The patient and his wife do not drive and were unable to bring the bank statement in to be sent to Medicaid. Megan offered to drive to their house and pick up the bank statement and drop it off at the Medicaid office. Due to her actions, this patient will be re-enrolled in Medicaid and will not lose his Medicare insurance. Megan went above and beyond to help our patients.”

The second nomination shared: “Megan is wonderful! There isn’t a week that goes by that I don’t reach out to her about an established patient with an assistance program or a patient signing up for an assistance program. She is always helpful and so nice. She never makes you feel bad for reaching out to her with questions. Patients have told me how wonderful she is to them. She exemplifies all our organization’s values. She is, quite simply, the best! A true asset to SSM Health.”

The BEE Award is specifically designed to recognize non-nursing staff members who demonstrate great teamwork and communication skills, collaboration, professionalism, exemplary service, and a commitment to excellence.
