SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital volunteer receives BEE Award

Diana Kent, an SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital volunteer, has been named the newest recipient of the BEE (Be Exceptional Everyday) Award.

Kent was nominated for her compassionate and committed service, including her work mentoring MAP students over the past 10 years.

Her nomination shares how she spends meaningful time working with a special needs student. “Through her steady presence, patience, and genuine kindness, she has created a space where this student feels seen, valued, and safe,” the nomination shares. “Because of Diana’s commitment, the student has opened up in remarkable ways – becoming more communicative, more confident, and experiencing significantly fewer outbursts.

“These positive changes are a direct reflection of Diana’s empathy, attentive listening, and unwavering belief in the student’s potential. She meets each moment with grace and compassion and always focuses on the well-being of others. Her ability to engage the MAP students in learning job skills has been amazing!”

The BEE Award is specifically designed to recognize non-nursing staff members who demonstrate great teamwork and communication skills, collaboration, professionalism, exemplary service, and a commitment to excellence.
