Steady rain brings risk of hydroplaning and vehicle crashes to the area

Several one vehicle crashes on I-41 in Fond du Lac County Tuesday, May 20, 2025, were attributed to wet roadways and hydroplaning, tying up traffic in the area.

Just before 1 PM a car crashed into the wall on the southbound side of 41 in front of the airport causing a backup all the way to Johnson Street.

Shortly after another vehicle skidded off the northbound side of the highway, crashing through the fence and ending up on Mercury Marine’s property just south of Military Road. The driver of that vehicle complained of pain as a result of the crash and was checked out by Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue personnel.

At the time, steady rainfall was reported with up to an inch of rain falling and ponding of water on the roadways. Rain is continuing in the area Wednesday and drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution while driving on local roadways.
