Suspect in Appleton shooting homicide was the victim’s son

The Appleton Police Department has released the names involved in a shooting homicide that occurred their early Sunday morning, November 24, 2024.

At about 7:40 AM, law enforcement and rescue were called to the 1800 block of Sanders Avenue in Appleton for a report of a person shot by a gun. Officers arrived on scene and stated a person was deceased.

Police have now identified that person as 74-year-old Daniel Juedes Sr. of Appleton.

At the same time, it was learned that the suspect fled the scene in a white BMW. Within minutes the car was spotted and followed by officers but the driver fled in an attempt to elude. After a brief chase, the man was taken into custody. Police identified him as 45-year-old Gregory Juedes of Kaukauna.

Police say the 45-year-old was the son of the man killed but didn’t say what may have sparked the incident.

Juedes is being held at the Outagamie County Jail on charges of first-degree intentional homicide, eluding police and resisting and obstructing an officer.
