Suspect in Fond du Lac U-haul pursuit makes initial appearance in Winnebago County Circuit Court

The 27-year-old woman who was involved in a police pursuit in Winnebago and Fond du Lac Counties on July 15th made her initial appearance in Winnebago County Circuit Court yesterday for the charges related to an incident in Omro.

Prior to the pursuit, Shakierra Ray and 45-year-old Omah Brown met a man in Omro to buy a car using fake cashier’s checks. When the man became suspicious of the check, a struggle ensued and Brown shot the man in the hand and beat him over the head with the gun.

The two then fled the scene in a U-Haul truck and were soon found by a State Patrol Trooper who initiated a pursuit that ended with Fond du Lac County authorities using a pit maneuver to stop the vehicle in the City of Fond du Lac.

Ray is charged with attempted theft over $10,000, armed robbery and felon in possession of a firearm. She is due back in court for a plea hearing at the end of November.
