ThedaCare program offers mental health support, helps build skills and inspires hope
ThedaCare is highlighting a mental health treatment option for people who need more support than a regular therapy appointment can provide, but don’t require hospitalization.
ThedaCare Behavioral Health’s Mental Health Day Treatment program in Menasha provides six weeks of intensive outpatient care for adults.
The program starts with full-day treatment before gradually moving to half days as patients progress.
Most people in the program are dealing with depression or anxiety, while others may be experiencing conditions including bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder or schizophrenia.
Treatment includes individual and group therapy, along with cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapies. Patients can also take part in art and music therapy.
ThedaCare says group sessions are an important part of the program, giving people an opportunity to connect with others who understand what they’re going through.
People can enter the program through self-referral, following an inpatient mental health stay, or through ThedaCare’s Behavioral Health Walk-In Care in Neenah.
The walk-in clinic is available without an appointment Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The clinic has mental health clinicians, a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner and a substance use disorder specialist.
ThedaCare says people experiencing a mental health crisis can visit the walk-in clinic for an evaluation and help determining what level of care is appropriate.
More information about mental health treatment options is available through ThedaCare Behavioral Health.
