Thousands left without power as severe storm wallops Door County Saturday

Milwaukee County wasn’t the only Wisconsin county making weather headlines this weekend. Door County had it’s own run-in with Mother Nature Saturday, August 9, 2025.
Strong winds prompted a severe thunderstorm warning Saturday around 4 p.m.
After the storm passed, thousands were without power and left to clean up the mess which mostly consisted of downed trees. As of 5 a.m. Monday morning, Wisconsin Public Service Company still had over 1000 people without power listed on it’s website.
The Sister Bay fire station opened it’s doors as a Red Cross shelter for anyone who needed a safe place to stay or simply to charge phones or use electricity.
The Wisconsin DOT says Highway 42 north and southbound near Sister Bay remains closed and has been since the storms due to storm related damage. They had no indication when that roadway would be opened back up.
