Traffic Deaths Up In March
More people were killed in Wisconsin traffic crashes in March than in the same month a year ago.
Preliminary figures released this week by the state Department of Transportation show that 33 people died in 29 crashes last month. That’s two more deaths than the previous March, and five more than the average for the past five years. Still, it was the sixth-safest month since World War Two.
For all of 2013 so far, Wisconsin highway deaths are down from a year ago. The state recorded 103 traffic fatalities in the first three months of the year. It’s eight less than a year ago, but six more than the five-year average.
