Twenty-seven Wisconsin schools receive funding to support agricultural education

Three area schools are among 27 Wisconsin schools receiving agriculture education grants from Compeer Financial.

Waupun High School, Markesan Middle and High School, and Horicon High School are all receiving funding through the company’s Next A.C.R.E. grant program.

Waupun High School plans to use its grant for a recirculating aquaculture system with filtration, circulation and temperature-control equipment.

Markesan Middle and High School will purchase greenhouse equipment, a watering system and hydroponic growing units.

And Horicon High School will use its grant for swine artificial insemination, litter processing and bovine cervix training simulators.

Together, the 27 Wisconsin middle and high schools received a combined $174,000 in grants.

The program is designed to provide hands-on agriculture education and help schools keep pace with technology used in today’s agricultural industry.
