Two pick-up trucks break through ice locally over weekend
The warm weather took it’s toll on at least two drivers out on the ice this weekend.
On Saturday night, February 14, 2026, a truck partially went through the ice near the mouth of Luco Creek off Winnebago Drive on Fond du Lac’s far northeast side. The driver of that truck fled the scene but was eventually found and charged with driving while intoxicated.
And Sunday afternoon, a pick-up truck broke through the ice on the southeast part of Lake Winnebago out from Fisherman’s Road and the Taycheedah boat launch. Initial reports were the driver was in the water but was able to get out on his own. Mt Calvary ambulance was called as a precaution to check out the driver. It’s unknown if they were transported to a local hospital or not.
