Two winter storms on track to bring wind and heavy snow to area
The Fond du Lac area continues to be in an active weather pattern with back to back to back weather systems affecting the state.
While Wednesday, March 11, 2026 was cold and breezy with light snow, another storm looks to pass Friday, and yet another, more volatile storm looks to move in this weekend.
Friday’s storm system comes with some wind, and the National Weather Service has issued wind related statements for areas all the way from Washington State to Pennsylvania. Washington to the Minnesota/Iowa area are under a high wind warning, while much of Wisconsin and points east, are under a wind advisory. Our wind advisory goes into effect at midnight Friday, and runs through 6 p.m. Friday.
The weather service says overnight southerly winds will be around 25 to 30 mph, gusting up to 50 mph. Then, during the day Friday, winds will shift from the west still gusting up to 50 mph.
They add there’s higher uncertainty in the overnight Thursday winds, but if they occur, may be stronger than the winds during the day Friday.
The storm system’s track has our area getting a rain snow mix with little to no accumulation, but the next storm in line for the second half of the weekend looks to be a different story.
While the exact track of the storm is to be determined as forecast models are in disagreement, somewhere in Wisconsin has the potential of at least a foot of snow, again with winds gusting to 40 mph.
Stay tuned to National Weather Service and KFIZ forecasts as details of the volatile late winter situation come together.
