Update to fatal I-41 crash Wednesday night

We have an update to the fatal crash on I-41 Wednesday night, January 22, 2025. In Thursday’s news we told you that a vehicle was stopped on I-41 near Winnebago Street and that an occupant of that vehicle was struck by a passing car and killed, while three others in the crash sustained injuries.

After more investigation, it was determined that the occupants of the stopped vehicle had stopped due to an argument while they were driving. The driver stopped on the median side while still partially in the lane of traffic. Occupants got out of the vehicle to continue the argument on the side of highway.

A 14-year-old male, who was a rear passenger, got out of the passenger side of the vehicle and stepped into the lane of the traffic where he was struck by the passing southbound vehicle.

The boy that was killed as well as the others in the stopped vehicle were from Detroit. The driver of the striking vehicle was from Wauwatosa. The crash is still being investigated.
