UW System to Pay $325K to Settle Harassment Suit

 The University of Wisconsin System will pay a former
UW-Oshkosh student $325,000 to settle claims that a professor sexually harassed
her. The former student sued in October, alleging the university failed to take
action against Michael Beitz, a former art professor. The woman alleged she had
a consensual relationship with Beitz in 2012, but he began sexually abusing and
harassing her when she tried to distance herself from him the next year. An
investigation by the school in 2015 found Beitz had violated system policies,
and he resigned in June of that year.
