Waupun Fire Department Responds To Two Dodge County House Fires

A house fire in Beaver Dam drew mutual aid from multiple departments overnight, including Waupun who sent a truck, manpower and a chief to assist.

A call came in from the home owner at 401 Hillcrest Drive just after 1 AM saying there was fire all over, including the attached garage which they were trying to get the car out of.

When firefighters arrived they found fire venting from the roof of the two story house. Because of the amount of fire, and the threat to neighboring houses, a MABAS call was sent out to bring in mutual aid from 10 different fire departments.

Both occupants that were asleep at the time of the fire were able to safely make it out of the house uninjured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Waupun Fire Department also responded to a call of a house fire Saturday in Dodge County on Redwood Road where careless use of smoking materials was to blame for starting a blanket and mattress on fire in a bedroom.

A quick response from the fire department helped limit fire damage to just the bed with smoke damage extending to other parts of the house.
