Waupun Man Arrested – Search Warrant Nets Drugs And Cash

A routine traffic stop and subsequent search warrant netted drugs, cash and a repeat drug dealing offender in custody yesterday in Fond du Lac County.
A deputy with the sheriff’s office made a stop for a moving violation around 6:15 Wednesday evening, July 12, 2023 on Highway 151 near Townline Road.
the deputy noted the operator was linked to suspected drug trafficking in previous law enforcement incidents and was on parole for drug related convictions. Sheriff’s office K9 Rip and his partner responded to the traffic stop and positively alerted to the odor of illegal drugs coming from the vehicle.
A search was conducted of the vehicle and operator, with crack cocaine, cocaine powder and marijuana being found.
Following the arrest, a separate deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office conducted an interview with the 58-year-old Waupun man who provided additional information, linking drug activity back to a residence in the City of Waupun. Investigators with Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group drug task force were contacted and assisted deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the City of Waupun Police Department in conducting a search of the residence.
In total, approximately 20 grams of crack cocaine, 6 grams of powder cocaine, 528 grams of THC and $2,000 of suspected drug money were seized. Most of the seized drugs were individually packaged in smaller saleable quantities, clearly possessed with the intent of distributing them for sale.
The sheriff’s office said this was a very good example of diligent follow up and working collaboratively to hold a known drug distributor responsible for selling dangerous drugs throughout the area.
