Williams Named Interim Fond du Lac Girls Basketball Coach

The Fond du Lac Cardinals Athletic Department is pleased to announce that Tyler Williams will serve as interim head coach for the girls basketball program starting in the 2024-25 school year.

Tyler Williams, a 2012 Fond du Lac High School graduate, returns to the girls basketball program after serving as an assistant coach for four of the last five years. Coach Williams took one year off to attend to family matters. He started as a JV assistant coach before becoming the JV head coach for three seasons. Mr. Williams is a familiar face, not only as an FHS alum and coach within the program but also as a guidance counselor at Theisen Middle School. Coach Williams spent the 2019-20 school year coaching a middle school team and a travel team in Fond du Lac.

“I want to thank the athletic department and interview committee for the opportunity to lead the program,” said Williams. “I look forward to working with Athletic Director Kevin Flegner and am eager to get started with our players and families. This dedicated group of student-athletes and the supportive community make me thrilled to be here. Go Cardinals.”

We are excited to have Coach Williams as the interim head coach for the girls basketball program. Join us in welcoming Coach Williams back to the program in his new leadership role. Coach Jess Ruch will also return to the staff as a varsity assistant. Coach Williams and Coach Ruch will finalize the rest of the staff in the coming weeks. The passion for Fondy within the girls’ basketball coaching staff will ensure a positive impact on the growth and development of our student-athletes.

KFIZ Sports Director Chuck Freimund was joined by Coach Williams on KFIZ Sportsnight.
