Wind blows hard for 7+ hours during strong storm system’s passage

The first of two strong storm systems raked over the area Friday, March 13, 2026.

While not a whole lot of precipitation fell with the storm, high winds blew for much of the day.

Officially at the airport there were seven consecutive hours of 50+ mph gusts between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. with a maximum gust recorded at 59 mph.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office responded to 24 calls relating to the wind between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. with many of them being trees down in roadways.

Many in the county lost power due to winds blowing down tree branches that fell on powerlines. Alliant Energy currently shows no outages in the county Saturday morning.
