Winter Storm Watch issued for Fond du Lac County

A winter storm watch will go into affect for a couple counties in east central Wisconsin including, Fond du Lac County, starting Thursday morning, December 19, 2024, running through mid day Friday.

While the clipper storm system that’s approaching from the Dakotas isn’t going to be a significant snow producer on it’s own, winds out of the northeast as the system passes us will bring in enhanced lake effect snow. Snow will begin Thursday morning but the lake enhanced snowfall won’t come into play until winds switch from the south, ahead of the storm, to the northeast as the center of the storm passes overnight Thursday.

As of now, the area seeing the lake effect snow could see in the 4-6 inch range of totals. Models are still in disagreement as to where this storm will track exactly so stay tuned to KFIZ and KFIZ Facebook to stay on top of this storm for any warnings or advisories that may be issued.
