Wisconsin Badgers shut out by Iowa in 30-0 loss
The Wisconsin Badgers suffered a difficult defeat on Saturday, falling to the Iowa Hawkeyes, 30-0, in a Big Ten matchup at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.
Wisconsin, ranked 25th in the Associated Press poll entering the game, was unable to get its offense going as Iowa handed the Badgers a shutout loss on Halloween.
The defeat is a disappointing result for Wisconsin as it continues its push through the Big Ten schedule.
Iowa built a 20-0 halftime lead, scoring twice in the first quarter and adding another touchdown and field goal before the break. The Hawkeyes added 10 more points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Wisconsin had opportunities to get back into the game but struggled to finish drives. One of its best chances came late in the first half when a 41-yard pass from quarterback Colton Joseph to Jaylon Domingeaux moved the Badgers inside the Iowa 10-yard line. However, Wisconsin was stopped on downs.
The Badgers finished with just 235 yards of total offense, including only 52 yards rushing. Iowa totaled 362 yards and held a significant advantage in time of possession.
Domingeaux led Wisconsin’s receivers with six catches for 86 yards. Linebacker Cooper Catalano led the Badgers defensively with a game-high 16 tackles.
Iowa quarterback Hank Brown completed 20 of 24 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns. DJ Vonnahme accounted for two touchdowns, while kicker Caden Buhr connected on three field goals, including a career-long 54-yarder.
The victory also allows Iowa to retain the Heartland Trophy and marks the Hawkeyes’ fifth consecutive victory over Wisconsin.
Wisconsin falls to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in Big Ten play. The Badgers return to Camp Randall Stadium next Saturday, November 7, to host Rutgers. Kickoff and television information are expected to be announced.
