Wisconsin judge Hannah Dugan convicted of felony in case of helping illegal immigrant evade ICE

A verdict has been reached in the federal trial of Wisconsin judge Hannah Dugan. Accused of attempting to help a Mexican immigrant in the country illegally, evade ice agents who came to a Milwaukee County courthouse to take the man into custody

After the jury returned to the courtroom around 8:35 p.m. last night, after deliberating for 6 hours,
they found Judge Dugan guilty on a felony count of obstruction and found her not guilty on a misdemeanor charge of concealment. Judge Dugan had pleaded not guilty to both charges in the case.

Judge Dugan’s defense team released a statement shortly after the verdict was read, saying: “While we are disappointed in today’s outcome, the failure of the prosecution to secure convictions on both counts demonstrates the opportunity we have to clear Judge Dugan’s name and show she did nothing wrong in this matter.

A date for her sentencing has not been set as of yet.
