Wisconsin Special Olympics semi convoy set to roll through Fond du Lac County Saturday

Dozens of semi-trucks are gearing up to roll through Fond du Lac County tomorrow, for the annual Special Olympics Wisconsin Truck Convoy.

The law-enforcement-escorted convoy unites law enforcement and truckers to raise vital funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes across the state.

Truckers from across the region will gather early Saturday morning at the starting grid in Waupun before making their way north along Highway 151.

Registration opens at 7 am for participating drivers, featuring complimentary coffee and donuts.

At 8:30, Opening ceremonies kick off with the convoy departing at 9.

The convoy will wrap up at its final destination at Mercury Marine, on Pioneer Road in Fond du Lac.

The Truck Convoy takes place every year with funds raised through registration fees, corporate sponsorships, and community raffles going directly toward supporting year-round sports training and athletic competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Historically, the event was a 53-mile trek that started south of Fond du Lac at the Pioneer Travel Plaza in Richfield and traveled north up I-41 through Fond du Lac County, ending at the EAA Grounds in Oshkosh. In more recent years, the starting point was shifted to Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac, but still utilized I-41 north to Oshkosh.

For the 2026 event, the route has been completely changed to run from Waupun to Fond du Lac.

Local residents are encouraged to gather safely along the route and overpasses to wave at the passing trucks and honk their support. Motorists traveling near I-41 and Pioneer Road on Saturday morning should anticipate minor traffic delays and increased law enforcement presence as the convoy moves through the area.
