Woman who pled with police to “just kill me” taken into custody after brief pursuit

A woman in Winnebago County was taken into custody Tuesday, May 20, 2025, after suffering what police called an emotional incident that started with a short pursuit when the driver failed to pull over for a traffic infraction.

The incident started at 7:17 PM when the trooper attempted to pull the woman over, but she accelerated to 100 mph, north on I-41 on the north side of Oshkosh.

After exiting onto Highway 76 and heading south into the city, the driver ran a red light so the trooper terminated the pursuit in the hopes the woman would stop driving recklessly. The trooper continued at the posted speed limit and found the vehicle stopped in the lane of traffic on Jackson Street just north of Murdock.

When given instructions to toss the keys out the window, the officer stated the woman yelled “Just kill me.”

She eventually complied with the officers commands and was taken into custody.
