Work continues on damaged Fond du Lac intersection

The second day of work is being done at the intersection of Main and Johnson Streets today, Wednesday, July 30, 2025, to repair concrete that buckled in the heat Monday afternoon.

The damage occurred in the crosswalk on the northern most portion of the intersection.

Crews have the northbound lanes closed as well as the eastbound turn lane on the southbound side as they repair the damage. The repairs show the city is straying away from the long used red bricks that marked the crosswalks and have opted to use regular concrete like the rest of the road.

It’s unknow if and when the remaining crosswalks in the intersection will be changed away from bricks as well.

The roadway is set to open back up Thursday at 7 a.m.
