Man Who Injured Five Crashing Into Verizon Store Denied Reduction In Bail

The man who crashed his car into a Fond du Lac Verizon Store April 27th, went before a judge Monday afternoon asking for a reduction in bail.

The judge denied his request to reduce the bail amount, which was previously set at $300,000 cash.

20-year-old Benjamin Ayer is accused of huffing from an aerosol can right before the crash, which injured several people including one person critically. Ayer’s attorney asked to have the bail amount reduced to ten thousand dollars.

Ayer allegedly passed out while driving on north Rolling Meadows Drive, traveling several hundred feet before jumping the curb and crashing into the building.

Ayer faces more than a hundred years in prison if convicted of the 9 felony and 3 misdemeanor charges against him.

His next court appearance is a motion hearing set for September 13, at 09:30 am.
